Our Innovative Strategies to Improve Services Provision, access, uptake and utilization

Community Based Theatre

This is an innovative and enterprising tool for community engagement, as it involves drama, culturally acceptable songs, story-telling and personal experience sharing.

This innovations put community at the Centre of an intervention, as they actively take lead in the processes, thus using community available resources, to proffer context specific solutions in addressing their needs. YPHO develop contents that passes key information, education and communication on issues of concern, by identifying, grooming and equipping special talents within project communities, who in turn display these contents to a larger population to enable them make better and more informed decisions.

Spot checks, feedbacks and back-checks of interventions reveals drama centered activities has more attractions and sustaining interest during intersections. It also revealed that people who participate in drama related activities in their local languages, using known and common songs, stories been shared by their people in their local dialect tend to have more trust in IEC, increased recall of key massages passed which in turn strengthens a positive behavior change process.

Story-telling and Personal Experiences Sharing Sessions

Using Inter-Personal Communication (IPC) also creates an avenue for individuals to better have an understanding of a concept, contextualize their experiences, and learn from others.

This innovation enables community members to make better and more informed decisions concerning their choices/options on services and product.

Sustaining Capacity Building and Mentoring

This is relevant to stakeholders, formation of support groups of people with similar interests (perceived or real) and sustain meetings at regular intervals.

These innovations have allowed people with similar interest to be more open to express their concerns, seek clarification, information and support among themselves, share their experiences, encourage each other and collectively proffer community centered solutions that collectively addresses their concerns which is more sustainable over time.
